Checking the stability of a structure

Saint Jacques Viaduct in Clermont-Ferrand

Contracting authority :    City of Clermont-Ferrand
Client :                                SMTC 63

Sol Solution was commissioned by the Syndicat Mixte des Transports en Commun (SMTC) of Clermont's Conurbation in order to carry out a diagnostic mission (G5) to validate the geo-mechanical hypotheses of the soils retained by the project management company in the context of the change of the south abutment's guardrail wall.

The second mission (G2 AVP) enabled the dimensioning of the buttresses retained as a reinforcement solution by the project management during the reconstruction work on the strike wall.

In order to carry out these missions, five pressuremeter and three core drill holes, supplemented by shear tests, were carried out at the foot of the viaduct.
