EMeRG3r – FUI Project

Inspired by the work carried out on the Panda® and based on new theories, the objective of the EMeRG3r project is to design the 3rd generation of dynamic penetrometers.

Inspired by the work carried out on the Panda® and based on new theories, the challenge of the project is to apply to our equipment a new technology that improves the quality and quantity of information obtained from the ground during a dynamic variable energy penetrometer survey.

The objective of the EMeRG3r project is thus to design the 3rd generation of dynamic penetrometers that will make it possible, on the one hand, to obtain the peak resistance of the ground being surveyed and, on the other hand, to determine, by analysing and processing the signals recorded during the ramming process, additional parameters governing the ground deformation behaviour involved when the cone is driven in, translated by the load-depression curve of the ground at the peak.

This curve is used to determine, for each ramming stroke, resistance and deformation parameters such as dynamic and pseudo-static resistance, penetrometric modulus, compressional and shear wave velocities, and a ground damping coefficient for each ramming stroke.

Resulting from research on the concept born at Sol Solution, the consortium also endeavours to validate the method's interests in order to correlate the results obtained with traditional methods, for example and in particular on classified seismic sites.

Prototypes are currently being tested and laboratory analyses are numerous. Thanks to Fondasol, the Navier laboratory of Ecole PAriTech, Gustave Eiffel University (ex-IFSTTAR) and CIO SE for their involvement in the project!
