On July 17, SOL SOLUTION participated in the inauguration of the Vergnes storage pond (12 m deep and with a capacity of 4000 m3), in the presence of the President of Clermont Auvergne Métropole: Olivier BIANCHI.

SOL SOL SOLUTION carried out a G3 geotechnical mission on behalf of NGE Génie Civil and GTS (NGE Group) to study the foundations of the basin and related structures. This mission therefore studied:

  • the dimensioning of the reinforced Berlin walls by struts used in the construction phase,
  • the dimensioning of the micropiles for the foundation of the ancillary structures,
  • the dimensioning of the micropiles intended to stabilize the bottom of the basin (invert about 1.0m thick),
  • static pull-out tests on several micropiles

The originality and particularity of the function of the micropiles of the basin lay in the fact that their role was not to ensure a bearing capacity and to avoid settling of the structure, but rather the opposite, namely to prevent a lifting of the invert. Indeed, in this area, the groundwater level is more than ten meters above the bottom of the basin, which induces an uplift effort of 15 tons per square meter!

Finally, it should be recalled that this study is highly technical through the exceptional configurations of the works studied and the associated structural calculations: a fine illustration of the continuous evolution of the technical competence of the Research Department, which has earned us the confidence of the NGE Group in this field.
